In nature, this species has a wide distribution from Hainan Island in Southern China through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the eastern edges of Thailand. Used in hybridizing for its pink petals, ease of growth and tall stems. There are alba forms of this species available.
Plant is generally easy to grow in culture, seems to like open well draining mixes.
